Decentralized social networks are not going to become mainstream until all the kinks are worked out. I gave Nostr a try and it lacks privacy and security. I tried creating a group chat and got locked out. Bluesky seems more usable, but it's not really decentralized. I think the Fediverse is a good option, but posts are not really federated until you follow someone on your node (old posts are invisible).
Decentralization is important, and the future I think, but we're just not ready with the current state of software and protocols.
